"Spacious, bright and stylish penthouse apartment located next to the old Royal Mint. Housing up to six guests, it is sumptuously decorated and equipped, and is strategically located with the best of Seville at its doorstep, to be enjoyed year-round"
This large and stylish property is the result of the renovation and merging of two smaller apartments in a strategic location in Seville: close to the Avenida de la Constitución and the cathedral, in the old Royal Mint (Casa de la Moneda). During the golden age of the Spanish empire, boatloads of gold and silver from the recently discovered American continent arrived at the port of Seville and were brought to the Royal Mint, between the Torre del Oro (Golden Tower) and the Torre de la Plata (Silver Tower), to be smelted into coins.
Today, however, the real treasure is the place itself: a perfect pied-à-terre from which to explore the beautiful historic centre of the city and the Barrio de Santa Cruz, or cross the Guadalquivir river into Triana, the old fishing quarter imbued with the very essence of Seville. Triana is the birthplace of some of the greatest flamenco dynasties, as well as being the historic centre of traditional ceramics production.
The apartment has three bedrooms accommodating six guests, and spacious living areas, the perfect home when travelling with a large family or for enjoying a few days in the city with friends. Experience the bustle of the city all year round, or come at Easter time to watch the famous processions (which literally go past the front door). Or simply enjoy sitting quietly at home, leaving the bustle and noise behind in this perfectly insulated property.
The interior décor has left nothing to chance. Preserving the structural elements and layout of the original building, it has been given a new and decidedly contemporary look: sloping ceilings, pillars, open spaces and split levels used as decorative elements, or different materials and colour schemes to separate the different areas. A concession to modernity, whilst maintaining the sense of warmth and cosiness throughout.
The décor cleverly combines simple, practical furniture with Spanish antique pieces which afford elegance and character and perfectly match the classical Seville woodwork of doors, windows, balconies and numerous built-in cupboards throughout.
Light is another of the prominent features of this comfortable property, flooding into all the rooms and highlighting their sunny, pastel colours. Art lovers will find much of interest on the walls, where contemporary canvases by local artists contrast with older and more traditional paintings and prints.
The spacious lower floor and living area comprises a large hall, living room, library, dining room and reading area, as well as a large modern kitchen, which is fully equipped and ideal not only for cooking, but also for hosting family meals. But the main feature here is undoubtedly the living room. Full of light, tastefully decorated with comfortable sofas, designer 20th century chairs, a coffee table and charming pieces of side furniture, it is the perfect space for enjoying long and memorable evenings. There is a large built-in bookcase, and a work corner with a beautiful writing table.
The sleeping area on the upper floor has three generously-sized bedrooms. The master bedroom, carefully decorated with a studied degree of sobriety, has a sloping ceiling, a large wardrobe, and natural light that streams in.
The second and third bedrooms have double beds, large wardrobes and a clean, warm décor which serves to highlight the pretty pieces of furniture provided in each. The greatest treasure again is the natural light flooding in.
Three full bathrooms provide utmost convenience for guests.
And to top it all, the stunning open terrace from which to enjoy glorious sunsets and Seville’s picturesque skyline, with parapets, church towers and rooftops. Something which can be enjoyed all year round given the wonderful temperatures that prevail in this magical city.
